“IT Will Be Everything”

Entering 2009 is as good a time as any to start looking towards the future. Something this guy – Ray Kurzwell – does for a living, or so it seems. He predicts 3-D molecular computing, nanobots in the brain and intelligence for the universe, amongst other things.
Everything seems to revolve around the theory of “The Singularity”, which in layman’s terms is a time, not to distant from now – around 2045 apparently – that human intelligence and computer intelligence will fuse and become indistinguishable. At this point computers will be so (artificially) intelligent that humans will no longer be involved in their advancement, the computers will be able to improve themselves and perform tasks beyond our current imagination – possibilities of human enhancement (Transhumanism) and true life extension (Immortality) are good examples.
