Pheobe Teeny…

9 Aug

Oh yes, a memorable occasion happened yesterday with Pheebs becoming a teenager. We were (as parents) quite pleasantly surprised to find she was still speaking coherently and even managed a smile or 2 throughout the day – hasn’t turned into Kevin the teenager yet anyway! Went to see Toy Story 3 and it was amazing.

90 days to go – Mixing it up…

31 Jul

Yes, decided to add in some cross training in an attempt to strengthen areas of my body hat have tended to let me down while running in the past. Have already dusted off the ‘erg’ and have pulled a few 10k sessions on that – only pulling about 2min/500m but it’s better than nothing. From previous experience with the rower it doesn’t take long to start getting the times down to something little less embarrassing.

Thinking about putting together a little indoor circuit raining session today to help build up stomach, back, shoulders etc. If it goes well I will put it in as a weekly Saturday morning workout.

Zach starts guitar lessons with a new tutor today – Guy. I haven’t met him but apparently he’s a bit of a ‘guitar head’ according to the music shop owner, Ian, whatever that means! I’m hoping this will give Zach fresh impetus to practice more on his guitar. I think he could be brilliant in years to come but needs to stick with it while he’s young. Oh and he’s picking up some reading glasses today. I’ll try and get him to let me take a photo later and post it up if he’ll let me.

Right then, where’s did I put that exercise mat?…

Off to Dartmoor, weather permitting

27 May

Decided to make the most of the dry spell and start planning an overnight trip to Dartmoor at the weekend. Will probably try and find a route somewhere on the South Moor this time as neither myself or Zach have ever been on it. Hope the weather stays dry, fingers crossed – I need time away from the screen!

Time passes so quickly these days!

20 May

Is it nearly June already! Half way through the year. Phew, it’s true what they say about time passing more quickly as you get older. Seems like only last month we were taking down the Xmas tree! Oh well, better get something written down before summer disappears too!

What’s new? Well after a truly freezing cold winter (2nd in a row), I decided to find out if/how we could get mains gas connected to the cottage. Turns out we had a mains supply running right outside the front door. So after all the money spent last year putting in our (useless) solid fuelled central heating we could have had gas, with change to spare! Grrrr.

avatar2This is the closest I could get using the Create your Simpsons Avatar feature. Actually I think it makes me look pretty clever and not at all geeky!
